The Good TImes Band

Our History

Good Times began 18 years ago and the ride continues. Originating in the basement of Lead Guitar & Vocals - Michael (Mike. Corn); Drummer & Vocalist - Brantley (Brant, Bench); Rhythm Guitar & Vocalist - August (Augie); and Bass Guitar - Bob (Rhino). A few months later Rhino moved to Pennsylvania and could not devote the time, so that is when Les stepped in on Bass Guitar & Vocals

Left to Right: Brant, Mike, Augie & Les (1991) The Dynamic Foursome performed all over New Jersey.

Brant our lead vocalist/drummer was notoriously late for gigs, but always won them over with his awesome vocals. For fun, we would take bets on when Brant would show up, especially when we worked at the Clariden in Hackettstown, right near Brant's backyard. Sounding like a cross between Roy Orbison, Bono and Chris Isaak, Brant would turn heads and all would be good.

Augie is a bit of a legend with Good Times. His charm and smooth personality won the hearts of everyone and he had a way of making people smile. His passion for Frank Sinatra, Elvis, the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd shone through whenever he performed any of their songs - talk about singing from the heart. Augie has a passion for music, one that would inspire any musician. Aug, channel "1" is still open.
Then there's Mike and Les...the remaining original core of GTB.

1995 thru 1996

In 1994, to round out our sound and expand our repertoire, we added Ken on Keyboards. Later that year Brant (drummer) retired from the band to spend more time with his family. Brant still comes out every now and then to sing a few with us, and still turns heads when he sings. Pete our new drummer quickly proved himself as a whirlwind of a drummer. Man could he walk those drums. The Good Times Band began to grow to captivate and accommodate more audiences.

The most remembered moment of Ken joining the band, is on his very first gig with us, his wife Teri went into Labor and Ken had to leave. Teri delivered their first daughter Jessica, just in time for Ken to return and perform the last song of the evening.
In 1995, Kathy joined us on lead vocals, and percussion. Kathy was our lead vocalist for over 6 years. She recorded her first original CD called "Sway" in 2001 and in 2006 released her 2nd CD "Carries You Away". www.kathyphillips.com  Kathy has performed her originals throughout New Jersey. She has opened for National acts such as "Styx" and "Hootie and the Blowfish". Kathy is still a very dear friend of ours and continues to fill in with us when needed. At times you can see her just coming out to hang with us and sing a few songs.  Best of Luck to you Kathy, we wish you much success!

1997

In 1997 Pete had to leave Good Times, being a single dad, the GTB was working too frequently. You can still see Pete from time to time, and he can still walk the drums. Lee joined Good Times and brought along some really great Dynamics! Lee performed with Good Times a little over 6 years,
however his full time job moved to Atlantic City. Thanks for all the GREAT
Times Lee, we miss you!

2001 was a crazy year for Good Times, Augie retired to spend more time with the family. We have left Augie's spot open ever since. Let's face it Aug, nobody can replace you. WE MISS YOU!! Eric came aboard as our drummer.
Kathy was still here, but was in the process of recording her first CD.
Later that year, Kathy signed on with her record company and started touring with her new CD.

2002

In 2002, Patrice joined Good Times and took over on lead vocals. Patrice had subbed with Good Times for some time prior to coming aboard and was a good fit and replacement for Katie. Patrice is an incredible vocalist, she has such a powerful and beautiful voice, so naturally she helped further expand our repertoire.

In 2003 Eric moved to Las Vegas, looking for the big time. Hope you hit it Eric. That is when Steve became part of the Good Times family. Steve, what can we say, you are simply awesome! Steve you are exactly what we need in a drummer. With your impeccable timing and dynamics, Steve has helped Good Times move to a whole new level. In mid 2003 Patrice a newly wed had a baby girl, Megan. Congratulations Patrice on your new family!

2003

For a short time a friend of ours Dave filled in for our drummer Steve while he took care of some family things. Thanks a million Dave you were a perfect fit, and we truly appreciate everything you did to help us out. The same time that Dave was helping us out we found Lori who came aboard for a short time on lead vocals. Lori became involved with other projects and decide to pursue them more diligently. We all wish you the best on your new endeavors.

2004

Anne performed with the GTB from 2004 to early 2006. Prior to joining Good Times Anne had performed on Carnival Cruise Ships and was a theatre major.  Anne's full time position with Fedway blossomed therefore she could no longer commit to the band.  Congratulations, and best of luck to you.

2006 'til now

Good Times would like to welcome our new drummer John and is excited about welcoming Patrice back.  Patrice left Good Times approximately 3 years ago to start a family, she and her husband Angelo now have a beautiful daughter Megan.

Patrice has 16 years of performing experience, and training.  Patrice has an incredible voice that will blow you away and she is classically trained and is versatile enough to sing everything from ballads to R&B to Jazz to Rock.  Which allows her to sing in all genres. Patrice will wisp you away with her powerful and charismatic style.  We are thrilled to have Patrice back, and we look forward to many years ahead.

John came on board in early 2006.  John has been sitting in with Good Times on occasion for approximately 2 years.  Naturally he is a perfect fit!  Not only does John have over 20 years experience with wedding, blues and rock bands, but he teaches drums as well.

In 2006 The Good Times Band performed at New Jersey's most notable venue The Continental Arena at the Meadowlands, opening for the NJ Nets Playoff game.

As you may have noticed, we have mentioned a little something about each of the members, however have left out our founder and the longest member, Mike and Les. These two guys have kept the band ticking all these years. Mike is our music director, front man, band leader and a pretty darn good guitar player too. He puts his heart into this band, and has carried it all these years. Les holds down the low end and locks in with John to keep our performances driving and the crowd up and dancing. Mike and Les are pretty inseparable. They've been together longer than most marriages last. From time to time, you can see them on off nights hanging out and checking out our friends in other bands, going to a Red Elvises' show (don't ask) or checking out guitars in the local music shops. They tend to like the retro and vintage instruments...hmmmm, then again they're getting to be vintage (like a fine wine). Keep it ticking boys.

And finally, the band wants to let you all know about our "6th" family member. Yep, there's more than just the 5 of us. Being musicians doesn't mean we just go out and "play" and have a good time. There is just so much that goes on behind the scenes, we couldn't even begin to tell all there is.

Crystal is our backbone and has taken over ALL of the back office work that goes into making the Good Times Band as successful as it has become.
Crystal does just about everything for us...from booking the band, managing us, and handling all of our PR. She does this through the kindness of her heart (and partly because she is Les, the bass player's wife). We can't thank you enough - we love you and truly appreciate everything you have done and continue to do for us.
